Hunger for Peace

Read how it went here

Dear friends

Fed up with the “noble” lies of "freedom" and "democracy" in the Orwellian war on terror we decided we had to do more to protest against the insanity and criminality of the UK, US and Israeli governments.

We felt we had to do something that was as much a statement to ourselves as a statement to those around us. We felt that we had to wake ourselves up out of our own apathy and thought that not eating for a week might go some way towards waking ourselves.

Terrorism is not fought against by the "billion dollar bombings" of whole countries, nor is it fought against by supporting brutal dictatorships or punishing populations for the crimes of dictators our governments nurture.

Without the rule of international law and the rapid advance of peace the future looks ominous. Unless greater and greater numbers of people in the world begin to understand and act as though they understand the gravity of these times, then it is certain that the scale of catastrophic events will in some way mirror our apathy. "What matters is whether we can awaken ourselves from the nightmare before it becomes all consuming, and bring a measure of peace and justice and hope to the world that is, right now, within the reach of our opportunity and our will". (Noam Chomsky, Hegemony or Survival)

We shall be fasting from midnight Monday the 21st of August until midnight Monday the 28th August.

If anyone would like to take part in the fast and join us either for a day or longer you are welcome to do so with us or on your own. Any form of support will be greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to contact us for further information.

Best wishes

Elaine, Jonathan and John
